MINSK -- The authorities in Belarus have made significant efforts to ensure that the presidential election held on January 26, 2025, was conducted with integrity and fairness. Alexander Lukashenko, the nation's leader, emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating that they aimed to create a process that would withstand scrutiny from opposition parties.

During a meeting with Sergey Lebedev, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and head of its observer mission, Lukashenko highlighted the cooperative role of the CIS in overseeing the election. He expressed gratitude for the presence of observer teams, indicating that their insights and feedback were valued as part of the electoral process.

Lukashenko remarked on the proactive measures taken by the Central Electoral Commission of Belarus. He noted that the commission provided timely updates throughout the voting period, including preliminary voting and the official election day. The Belarusian leader welcomed constructive criticism, expressing openness to addressing any areas that may have raised concerns among observers.
