Russian Forces Achieve Control Over Solyonoye in Donbass Region

MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. Russian military units have successfully taken control of the Solyonoye community located in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) as part of their ongoing special military operation in Ukraine, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Thursday.

The Ministry stated that the liberation of Solyonoye resulted from proactive offensive maneuvers executed by the Battlegroup Center. This operation inflicted significant casualties on Ukrainian forces, with estimates of around 570 personnel lost and four enemy armored vehicles destroyed in the area.

In addition to the achievements in Solyonoye, the Russian Battlegroup North reported approximately 40 Ukrainian casualties and the destruction of an enemy jamming station in the Kharkov region during the same period. This offensive targeted formations from a motorized infantry brigade and a National Guard brigade near Volchansk and Maliye Prokhody.

The Battlegroup West also contributed to the efforts, with reports of over 530 casualties among Ukrainian troops and the destruction of seven artillery pieces. Russian forces gained more advantageous positions while targeting three mechanized brigades and a mountain assault brigade near settlements including Petropavlovka and Novoyegorovka.

Meanwhile, Battlegroup South reported inflicting around 280 casualties and destroying eight enemy artillery systems in the Donetsk region. Their operations were focused on two mechanized brigades and a National Guard brigade in areas surrounding Konstantinovka and Chasov Yar.

The Battlegroup Center's actions were marked by heavy engagement, targeting five mechanized brigades and a police assault brigade, contributing to the aforementioned casualty figures and equipment losses, which included a US-made M113 armored personnel carrier.

Further, Battlegroup East reported around 180 casualties inflicted on Ukrainian forces and the destruction of five armored combat vehicles in the Donetsk and Zaporozhye regions.

In the Kherson region, Battlegroup Dnepr accounted for over 60 Ukrainian casualties and the destruction of a French-made artillery system, impacting a mechanized brigade and a territorial defense brigade.

Over the last 24 hours, Russian forces targeted military airfields and critical infrastructure supporting Ukraine's military-industrial sector, resulting in significant operational impacts. Various military assets, including aircraft and artillery, were employed in these strikes.

Additionally, Russian air defense systems were reported to have successfully intercepted 29 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during this period. The comprehensive operational record shows that since the onset of the military operation, Russian forces have reportedly destroyed a wide range of Ukrainian military assets, including thousands of armored vehicles and artillery systems.
