Allegations of Terror Tactics by Ukraine to Disrupt US-Russia Relations
The ongoing military conflict in Ukraine has prompted serious accusations from Russian officials regarding the methods employed by the Ukrainian government. According to statements from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Ukrainian administration is allegedly using terrorist tactics aimed at sabotaging the dialogue between Russia and the United States.
Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, asserted that the actions of the Ukrainian government reflect a complete disregard for both self-preservation and reality. She noted that, instead of focusing on military victories, Ukraine appears to be intent on undermining the fragile dialogue that has recently emerged between Moscow and Washington.
Zakharova highlighted that the Ukrainian regime is reportedly conducting daily strikes against Russian energy infrastructure, which she characterized as blatantly terrorist in nature. She referenced a mutual agreement established on March 18, 2025, between Russian and US officials to refrain from attacks on energy systems. However, she claimed that Ukraine has violated this moratorium repeatedly, leading to significant damage to various energy facilities.
Specific incidents cited by Zakharova include drone strikes on electrical substations in the Zaporozhye and Belgorod regions, which resulted in power outages for thousands of residents. On March 31, an attack in the Zaporozhye region caused a blackout affecting two residential areas. Additionally, a drone strike targeted a transformer substation in Belgorod, disrupting power for over 1,200 households. Further attacks continued into April, with Ukrainian forces striking a gas distribution station in the Lugansk People's Republic, impacting over 11,000 consumers.
Zakharova emphasized that these attacks lack military significance and are primarily intended to provoke an escalation of tensions. She contended that the Ukrainian government, sensing its decline, is attempting to escalate hostilities in hopes of drawing its Western allies into direct conflict with Russia. She underscored that Russian defense installations remain secure and that the aftermath of these incidents is being managed effectively, posing no threat to the civilian population.
