Yemen's Sana'a Targeted Amid Escalating Conflict

The Yemeni capital, Sana'a, currently controlled by the Houthi movement, has reportedly come under attack, according to local media outlets. Al Masirah, a television channel affiliated with the Houthis, reported that the strike occurred near Al Sabeen Square, coinciding with a rally organized to show support for the people of the Gaza Strip.

In a related development, Al Yemen television claimed that an electricity facility located in the southern suburbs of Sana'a was targeted in an assault attributed to Israel. Meanwhile, Al Arabiya television reported that the United States conducted a series of at least 12 airstrikes aimed at Houthi underground sites in the Amran governorate and positions held by the rebels in the Saada governorate. According to Al Mayadeen, no casualties among civilians or military personnel have been reported thus far.

The recent increase in tensions aligns with the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which has prompted the Houthis to issue warnings regarding potential strikes on Israeli territory. They have also declared their intent to obstruct ships linked to Israel from navigating through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until military operations against the Palestinian group Hamas cease.

Since mid-November 2023, there have been numerous incidents involving civilian vessels being attacked by the Houthi forces in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
